About Mission Valley Teeth Whitening

Zoom Whitening from your Mission Valley & San Diego dentist is the safest and most effective way to whiten your teeth. The results of our professional whitening can be dramatic; your teeth can lighten three to eight shades in a single visit! Not only will the effects be greater than over-the-counter whitening products, but professional whitening will also be much quicker and much safer. Our highly skilled team is trained to protect the sensitive areas of your mouth, such as gums and tooth root surfaces, whereas those who are not trained in the dental profession are not. We will also conduct a thorough examination to determine if your teeth discoloration is from normal wear or from a dental condition in need of treatment.

Dentistry at the Promenade Professional Whitening Methods

Professional whitening is much more effective than over-the-counter whitening products mainly because we use high-concentration bleaching gels that are not available outside of the professional setting. There are two treatment options you can choose from based on your personal preference:

  • In-Office Whitening – For the quickest results, this is the method you should use. We will start by covering your tooth-root surfaces and gums with a barrier to ensure no injury occur. Teeth Whitening Options. We will then use a tool called a retractor; a piece of plastic meant to hold your cheeks and lips away from your teeth. A hydrogen-peroxide gel will be left on your teeth for approximately 60 minutes to whiten as much as possible. Once the gel is removed, you can see your results right away.
  • Take-Home Whitening – Another option we offer for teeth whitening is take home trays. We begin by taking a mold of your teeth to construct two custom plastic trays, one for the top and one for the bottom. While at home, you will fill the trays with whitening gel we provide and leave them in for about an hour. This process may need to be repeated for weeks to achieve the best results.

Caring for Your New, Radiant Smile

To keep your new, white teeth sparkling, it is imperative that you give them proper care. Continue a strict brushing and flossing regimen, but also avoid foods and activities that can potentially stain your teeth. This includes avoiding red wine, tea, coffee, and smoking among other things. You may require a minor touch up every so often, but otherwise your teeth should stay beautifully, radiant white for years to come.
